Debra Stallworth RSS
I took a sociology class my senior year in high school and knew I wanted to work with people, especially adolescents. I could see that many students needed someone to talk to and help guide them as they embark on adulthood. It has since been my dream to help students and families at-risk.

I have worked as a Student Assistance Program Specialist for the past 14 years in between assignments as an Air Force pilot’s wife. I have experienced people from many diverse cultures and ethnic groups throughout my lifetime and have come to learn that we all have the same needs; to be listened to, encouraged and cared for. I attended Eastern New Mexico University where I obtained a BS in Sociology/Psychology and later got my MSW at California State University, Sacramento.

I have always believed children are our future and value the opportunity I have to work with them daily. As the School Social Worker I have been able to expand the population I work with to include helping more parents, teachers and Special Education students. I have been assigned to Freedom High School since its opening and have enjoyed working here immensely.

One program I am passionate about is the Peer Diversity Program which is in its second year here at Freedom. A message of unity is spread through our students in the form of classroom presentations. The response to the program has been tremendous.

I feel as though I am living my dream of helping others each day I come to work. There is no greater feeling than serving our children and our community. I hope that I contribute in some way.
